Newly-published books

The cover design of Top-Down Knit Sweaters caught my eye—smart but not fussy. There are 16 patterns in Corrina Ferguson's book, and I'd be happy to knit almost all of them.

I knew that a Harry Potter knitting book was in the works for release early next year, but today was the first day I'd heard about Harry Potter Crochet by Lucy Collin. One look at that amigurumi Hagrid and I was hooked (sorry!).

Distitch is a novel knitting technique where the loops of one row are pulled through the loops of the two rows below it. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm excited by its potential. Assia Brill, who developed the technique, says it produces a warmer and stronger fabric compared with conventional knitting. That you can combine it with other techniques, like brioche and double knitting, blows my mind a little. If you try it, let me know how it goes.
