Newly-published books

Have you ever seen crochet toys as big as the ones in Huggable Amigurumi before? I love the end result, but I'm not sure that I'd love the time and yarn involved in making them!

Author Franziska Poser doesn't think we should worry that they'll take too long to make. She says that "as the animals are crocheted using thick wool and a larger crochet hook, it doesn't take that much longer than a small amigurumi project". And I guess the chunky wool means that the toys won't be as fiddly to make as some of their smaller, less cuddly counterparts.

However, Franziska can't deny the rather large amount of yarn required for each project—more than a kilogram (2.2lb) for the largest toys.

I still think I might be tempted if I had a special small person to make one for though!

The book's not aimed at complete beginners, but so long as you're confident with the basics, you have a huge 52 patterns from which to create a pile of pretty knits as you learn.
